STATEMENT from MIKE
I am writing to you all today with a post I did not expect to ever write. As of last Wednesday April 15th, I am ending my campaign for Congress.
This is not because I don't want to represent you. If anything the process of campaigning made me more proud than ever of the district I call home.
That day, my daughter was in a very serious car accident. She will recover but my family has always been the reason I got into this and right now she needs me as her father more than she needs a prospective Congressman.
The other reason I'm able to lay down this responsibility is the quality of the candidates running alongside me. Any one of them I would be proud of representing me.
I do wish to endorse Brad Smith in this race as I was particularly impressed with the job he has done both organizing and with his ability to reach out to the people he wants to represent. We deserve leadership of the quality he brings, and as soon as my family is able to spare me I'll be back on the trail advocating for him to represent us.
It was one of the greatest honors I've ever received that so many of you considered me to represent you. I feel confident in laying this down knowing it's being picked up by someone we all can trust to be a representative we can take pride in again.
Thank you.
